AfriBeads African baskets, bowls and platters are made in Kampala, Uganda, from a local fibre taken from a type of palm leaf called raffia which is wrapped around long strips of banana leaf stems.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Basket weaving is carried out from the woman\u2019s home in between her other domestic duties.\u00a0 The knowledge of how to weave has been passed down from generation to generation.<\/span><\/p>\n The women who make the baskets take great care to provide a quality product and to make the items to the patterns and colours shown.
