The AfriBomb bracelet is especially unique due to the reclaimed bomb heart charm. The recycled aluminum in the charms was sourced from airplane parts and bombs dropped throughout Laos during the 1960s Secret War. AfriBeads partnered with Sacred by Design, an Australian business that operates directly with a community in Laos and supports the efforts of Swiss NGO Helvetas for safe recovery of the bombs. Together we work to improve livelihoods and extend opportunities for the community.

AfriBeads are made by a group of 20 women in Kampala, Uganda. The women make the beads to support their families, providing a solid income and the flexible work that they need. The women in Kampala run their own enterprise, making their own decisions together as a collective, working with fair trade principles. 

AfriBeads is a Fair Trader of Australia and all AfriBeads products are made following the WFTO 10 Principles of Fair Trade, ensuring that the women making the products are provided with a good income, good working conditions and are supported to build their business and support their family and community.
